Is Money Good or Bad?
Take out the emotional attachment to the word money and see how off this interpretation is now, “The love of “a tool of exchange” is the root of all evil. The love of “the byproduct of the exchange of services and products” is the root of all evil. The love of “the symbol of achievement, production, the entrepreneurial spirit, freedom, and America” is the root of all evil. Does that make any sense?
I agree that money has the potential to help people do bad things. Money also has the potential to help people do good things. Money itself is not evil. Money is a lot like alcohol. If you give a jerk a large amount of alcohol he is going to be a large jerk. If you give a happy person a great deal of alcohol, they are going to be a great deal happier. If you give a greedy, power-hungry person an excess of money, they are going to be excessively greedy and power hungry. Money is not evil; the person who controls the money has a choice on whether they are going to do good things with it or bad things with it. Money just fuels someone’s self-esteem. What actions they take are based on their character and moral code
