Many of us have heard the biblical scripture that says to “turn the other cheek.” This one has really challenged me. You might say, “Turn the other cheek? What? If someone hit me in the cheek, I’m knocking them out!” I believe what Jesus meant was, if someone hurts you, show them, unconditional love, defend yourself, and show them that the anger cycle stops with you. This doesn’t mean to not hit them back to stop the attack, by the way. To me, it means to get the situation under control and show them that the violence stops with you.
His lesson was a lesson that hurting people hurt people, and we can be the light. Show them the way through our example. This level is super tenth-degree black belt spirituality, by the way. Don’t test someone if you don’t want to get smacked!
